Brand Me

Peope ask me how I got my nickname. Echo isnt my real name, but life long friends can't remember my real name because Ive gone by Echo since I was 2 months old. Legally I'm Robinlyn Holmes. The daughter of Rob and Lynn Holmes, have you caught on yet? If not, don't worry, everyone eventually notices the "Echo" in the room.  I was born and raised in Long Beach CA. I'm always proud to say that! This is a melting pot of culture. Every corner filled with different smells, colors, cars, people. Long beach is a mecca for every kind of art. From Snoops music, "Cuz you can't Spell the West without the E.S." to Jesse James' Custom West Coast Choppers. Growing up so close to Hollywood people discover in order to stand out from the ever growing pool of talent here you need to "create your brand". Is this merely a marketing strategy, or a way of life? Here in the City of Angels, it's both. Now, for better of for worse, I am one of those people!

New year. New projects

My New Years resolution is to focus more on my creative side and enjoy the time I spend doing it. This resolution came about after my sister and I did the first Necko photoshoot in December. I had such a great time putting my thoughts and ideas together and after seeing how far I have come over the past few years I resolved to start documenting everything I do. My first project this year focuses on re-focusing my goals. I gathered all my materials, turned on some good ol' classic rock and started laying out my design only to discover I had run out of adhesive while making Christmas cards back in Novemebr...grrrr. But the creative juices were flowing and I decided not to let this hiccup ruin my afternoon. I went to Pinterest for inspiration and then I went back to the drawing board, which was actually ended up being a bulletin board.

 I usually put up a standard calendar then add some embellishments for birthdays, pin up quotes and recipes I printed from Pinterest and then forget to look at the calendar again until it's time to turn to the next month. In an effort to get out of this rut and get excited about monthly goals I skipped the calendar all together and started "pinning". The lack of adhesive actually inspired this project and I hope inspires you to take it back old school and start pinning!

Welcome to my Neck o' the woods

Hi! I'm Echo, I'm a crafter, scrapbooker, crocheter and just enjoy creating, learning new techniques and sharing my projects. I have been creating my brand, Necko, since 2011 and  started selling my crocheted scarves on etsy  this past year. 

This blog is all about creating a space to showcase and share everything I create all in one space. 

A quick story on the origin of my name. 

Echo nickname. My full name is Robinlyn. I'm the first born daughter of Rob and Lynn. Quickly my family discovered the "Echo" in the room "Rob and Lynn and Robinlyn are coming over" and the nickname was born. 

 Originally I started selling scarves; hence the name Necko, to my family and friends. Over the years it has grown into so much more. With that being said I look forward to learning and sharing with you!
